Rotary Yoneyama Research Scholarships for International Students, Japan. 2013

This is for international students scheduled to enroll in April or October 2013 in a Japanese university or graduate school under Japan’s pre-arrival university admission system. “Pre-arrival admission approval” is a system whereby applicants to Japanese universities and graduate schools are allowed to take the entrance examination and apply for admission while in their countries, without having to come to Japan to do so.

Level of Study: Research Degree
Subjects: All

This scholarship program is reserved for people residing abroad who wish to apply for admission in a Japanese university or graduate school. The program’s eligibility requirements are as follows:
(1) Have already chosen the university or graduate school s/he will apply for
(2) Be in the process of applying for admission
(3) For the subject university to have a system for issuing “pre-arrival admission approval.”

Applicants who enroll in the universities located in the the listed areas are eligible. Those in other areas are not eligible. Hokkaido (i.e., Abashiri, Asahigawa, Kitami, Kushiro, Nayoro, Obihiro, Wakkanai), Aomori Prefecture, Ibaragi Prefecture, Tochigi Prefecture, Saitama Prefecture, Chiba Prefecture, Tokyo Metropolitan Area, Kanagawa Prefecture, Toyama Prefecture, Ishikawa Prefecture, Aichi Prefecture, Fukui Prefecture,Shiga Prefecture, Kyoto Metropolitan Area, Nara Prefecture, Osaka Metropolitan Area, Hyogo Prefecture

I am a Canadian student interested in attending a Japanese university for socio-cultural anthropology. I need information on how university admissions in the Japan work. Thanks. BTW, you’ve got a great site.

I share kd’s worrry abut the language. I may be wrong, but it will be nice to hear from some international students who hv enrolled in these Japanese univs, to see is there is language support. Having a hard time googling and locating discusion forums

Japanese will be a tough language to learn… I dont think many programmes there are in english..
