Eligibility: Applicants must have a first-class or high upper second-class honours degree (or equivalent qualification) in geography or a social science discipline relevant to the project (such as media studies or education) and meet the University’s standard English language entry requirements.

This research studentship will examine the variegated pedagogic uses of social media by a differentiated group of international students in the British Higher Education sector. Although the research will focus on one specific institution (and as such it will be a case study of a specific set of students in a specific place at a particular point in time), it will extend the analysis ‘outwards’ from this place to broader national and international policies and linkages. The successful applicant will use a variety of social science research techniques and internet mediated research methods which might include online surveys, face-to-face and online interviewing, ethnography/netnography and secondary data analysis.
